Synopsis: All road users should be able to travel safely in the road transport system, how can we achieve this using the combined knowledge from different actors and stakeholders? How can we maximize the benefit from AI-based technologies in the area of traffic safety with an ever-increasing complexity, and how to design suitable collaboration platforms?
Synopsis: The current data communication and navigation systems (ADS-B, CPDLC, AIS, DSC) for civil aircraft and vessels are unprotected and prone to various cybersecurity threats. New systems such as LDACS and AEROMACS are just under development and their security properties should be evaluated while existing systems could be patched. Also Unmanned Aircraft, or drones, have to share airspace and seas with manned vehicles. Their remote secure identification, control, swarm formations beyond line of sights are hard technological challenges.
AI techniques such as Machine Learning can be applied to optimize data transmissions and flight paths. The talk will mention ongoing standardization activities at the Internet Engineering Task Force and concept validation for drone emergency medical services in a EU project. Future partners with funding capabilities with EU and industrial programs are sought for joint project applications in those areas.
